Tableware
Design Considerations
After
extensive consultation with Gordon ond the chefs at his restaurants,
many observations were made. The whole process was noted - preparation,
cooking, presentation (at the pass and at the table) and finally
cleaning and storage.
"presentation & function"
The brief was to design a full range of tableware that Gordon would
use in his restaurants and that would have commercial appeal. The
two key considerations for the range were presentation ond function,
both in a kitchen environment and at the table. Of course this had
to be appropriate for both a professional environment and at home.
"the perfect angle"
White bone china is both subtle and simple, allowing food to be
the focus. The embossment in the form of bands adds sophisticated
subtle interest, drawing the eye to the food on the plate. The flat
rim not only looks impressive, but is the perfect angle to prevent
cutlery from sliding. All of these elements combine to create a
collection that performs to the highest standard.
"highly practical"
Bone china is highly practical due to its durability. It is also
suitable for both everyday use and special occasions.
The large 28cm/ll" Serving Bowl is multi-functional.
It is a perfect serving item, but is also great for starters, main
courses and desserts
The Espresso Cup has an internal rounded cross section, allowing
the cream to flow into the coffee, without dispersing at the base.
It also features the perfect handle for comfort
The Sauce/Gravy Stand functions both os a souce boot stond
and a small starter dish
Influences
for the Sauce Boat came from Gordon Ramsay's silver service. Key
features are an exaggerated handle for ease of use, and a wide open
snip for good pouring

Glassware
Design Considerations
Alter
researching in some of Gordon Ramsay's London restaurants, the requirement
was evident. The brief was to design the ultimate sommelicr collection,
which was user friendly, for both restaurant and home.
"the ultimate sommelier collection"
Wine was the key. Working closely with the Sommeliers from Maze
and Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's, function was vitol. The drinking
vessels hod to perlorm to Ihe highest standard for the type of drinks
they were used for.
highest standard'
As a result, the range incorporates clear undecorated glass with
simple pulled stems and appropriate bowl shapes and sizes, (opacities
were considered throughout the design process.
Gordon designed the Champagne Flute to be the definitive
Champagne glass. The weight is exquisite and the distinctive bowl
shape is perfect for retaining bubbles. The overall height and proportions
of the bowl and foot retain a sense of elegance
The oversized bowl of the Red Wine glass allows the quality
and intensity of aromas to be enjoyed to their full potential
The While Wine glass will dress any table. A generous bowl
with beautiful proportions
All Barware items are handmade with a nice ice weight in
the base. The Shot Glass is the ideal shot gloss, but can also be
used to serve desserts, as it fits snugly into the Espresso Saucer
The Candlestick/Vase is a multi-functional item. It can be
used os a candlestick for evening dining, or alternatively
the lop can be removed for use as
a bud vase
